Extraordinary songwriter and darkly romantic singer, Nick Cave is undeniably one of the highest figures of global Independent Rock. While he built his reputation in the 1980s on the ashes of a lush, lyrical post-punk, then offered more stripped-down pieces mid-career, he did not let his guard down in the 2000s, as proven today by the collector's reissues of the albums Nocturama, Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus and Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!Following the intimate No More Shall We Part, Nocturama in 2003 indeed marked, amidst ballads such as He Wants You and She Passed By My Window, Nick Cave's desire to reconnect with a more biting rock (Dead Man in My Bed, the epic track Babe, I'm On Fire), a direction that would be confirmed the following year with the double album Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus. Composed of 17 tracks, this album won over fans with its up-tempo melodies (There She Goes, My Beautiful World, Nature Boy, Supernaturally) or its deconstructed and catchy pieces (The Lyre of Orpheus, Easy Money). A true return to form that was validated in 2008 by the instant classic Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!. Merging with the Seeds in frantic gallops (Today's Lesson, We Call Upon the Author), Nick Cave delivered one of his most emblematic opuses, enhanced by the superb Jesus on the Moon and Midnight Man. A way to beautifully punctuate the 2000s and set the record straight. Released this year in CD+DVD, enhanced with a new 5.1 mix, B-sides, and a documentary, these limited reissues are therefore an event and will naturally find their place in the hearts of fans.
