Description
Altar is the second album by NewDad, a band from Galway fronted by singer-songwriter Julie Dawson. Carried by an alt-rock sound with grunge accents, the album directly addresses the anxieties of the contemporary world, oscillating between generational disillusionment, simmering anger, and moments of withdrawal. Dawson's lyrics, fueled by imagery related to water and religion, extend the universe introduced on their first album "Madra". Formed in Ireland, NewDad draws inspiration from The Cure, Pixies, and My Bloody Valentine, as well as current artists like Big Thief and Beabadoobee. In less than two years, the band has established itself as a rising figure in the alternative scene, even catching the attention of Robert Smith.
