Formed in 1980, New Model Army is one of the most influential British Rock bands of the 90s. The band from Bradford was initially influenced by punk rock and Northern soul but, over the years, the band has continually pushed its boundaries and has absorbed new Folk or Metal influences, creating a unique and unclassifiable sound. For its 25th anniversary, the band released "Carnival" in 2005, their first album in 5 years and an album on which New Model Army wished for a different final result. Accompanied by Lee Smith, co-producer and mixer of their recent albums including 'From Here' (2019), the band reinvents 'Carnival' and brings this album back to life with 4 new exclusive tracks never revealed before, and remixed tracks giving a rawer, more powerful, and more coherent sound than the original. This brand new version will be available in limited CD Mediabook editions and for the first time in Double Vinyl Gatefold format (White). "We have always thought that CARNIVAL was the only album where the recording, mixing, and mastering did not bring the final result closer to what we initially intended in the writing. Thus, when Edel expressed interest in licensing and reissuing the album, we discovered four associated tracks (B-sides and unreleased songs) to add and saw an opportunity to 'reimagine' the album as a whole. We are aware that it is very dangerous for any band to 'go back' (and particularly unusual for us) - so we established an absolute rule that we would not re-record anything and we would ask Lee Smith, who mixed From Here and Winter, to remix it using only the original multi-tracks, with minimal involvement from us. Some songs have changed very little, others a lot. And in our opinion, this has worked well and enhanced the main qualities of the album, particularly the richness of the original musical ideas, finally arranged satisfactorily in terms of sound; and in the spirit of this 'reinvention', we slightly modified the order of the songs to include the additions - while our artist, Joolz Denby, recreated the cover in a brand new original version for these beautiful multimedia bookpack editions and white double vinyls."
