Avec son nouvel album Baïka ('tale' or 'fairy tale' in Serbian), Nemanja Radulovic embarks on a musical journey through the East. He brings together the highly virtuosic violin concerto by Armenian composer Aram Khatchatourian and the sublime symphonic poem Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov based on the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, in a new arrangement for violin, piano, and chamber orchestra by Serbian composer and arranger Aleksandar Sedlar, full of poetry and emotion. The violin concerto by Khatchatourian, one of the most emblematic works of the 20th century in the violin repertoire, is known for its demand for great technicality. Nemanja, one of the specialists of the work today, offers a personal reading with Eastern influences, in symbiosis with the dynamic Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sascha Goetzel. The trio for clarinet, violin, and piano by Khatchatourian, recorded with clarinetist Andreas Ottensamer and pianist Laure Favre-Kahn, completes the program, alongside Savcho III, the transcription of a movement from the concerto for saxophone and orchestra composed by Sedlar for Nemanja and Double Sens, featuring traditional and festive melodies.
