YOUNG SHAKESPEARE

Description

Young Shakespeare is an unreleased live recording from 1971, making it the artist's oldest live performance ever recorded. Stripped of all artifice, this concert is a return to the essence of Neil Young's songs: an acoustic guitar, a piano, and a harmonica. Recorded at the time for German television and kept secret until now, the original tapes were restored 50 years later, bringing back to life two tracks from "After the Gold Rush" and some tracks from Harvest Ohio, Cowgirl in the Sand, Helpless, Down by the River, Sugar Mountain, as well as Old Man, The Needle and the Damage Done, A Man Needs a Maid, and Heart Of Gold. Described by Neil Young himself as "Young Shakespeare is a special event. For my fans, I would say it’s the best — a one of my purest sounding acoustic concerts we have in the archives.”
