French music for ballet
Description
Enter the dance! In this new recording from Chandos, the legendary conductor Neeme Järvi introduces us to the music of two little-known ballets composed by Henri Sauguet and Jacques Ibert. Little known to the public, Sauguet nevertheless achieved fame in the early 20th century thanks to his film music and the numerous ballet scores he composed throughout his career. Very influenced by the orchestration of Richard Strauss, the work of the group of Six, and the music of Erik Satie, he always surrounded himself well to carry out his artistic projects. The ballet we hear in the album, Les Forains, was notably choreographed by the famous Roland Petit, who would later collaborate with Jacques Ibert for Les Amours de Jupiter. The ballet suite from the opera Hérodiade by Jules Massenet completes this exploration of French dance music.Buy French music for ballet at the best price
