Light in the Attic presents "Nancy", released in 1969. The album celebrates one of the most overlooked periods of Nancy's career. After three years in the spotlight and at the top of the pop scene, Nancy Sinatra finds herself in a situation that is both unexpected and familiar — much like at the beginning of 1965. She is once again without a producer, without new songs, and must fight to stay on her label of the time, Reprise Records. Lee Hazlewood had been her producer, duet partner, and the writer of several of her biggest hits. After three incredible years of hits, Lee suddenly leaves the United States to settle in Sweden. She then finds in her faithful arranger Billy Strange a new producer, and discovers a promising young songwriter (and future superstar), Mac Davis, who will help redefine the color of her music. Simply titled "Nancy", this album holds a special place in her discography, halfway between her iconic records of the 1960s and her more funk explorations of the 1970s. It features soul with country accents (God Knows I Love You, Son of a Preacher Man), timeless ballads (Memories), as well as an orchestral, bluesy, and languorous version of The Doors' Light My Fire. It is a transitional album, adored by longtime fans and ready to be rediscovered.
