Naked Raygun was a pillar of the Chicago music scene, active from the early 80s to the early 90s. Their raw energy and instrumental mastery showed that punk could be both powerful and technically solid, having a lasting influence on the local and national scene. Founded in 1980 by Marco Pezzati, Jeff Pezzati, and Santiago Durango, the band released six albums during its eleven years of existence, establishing a recognizable style blending pop and hardcore with politically engaged lyrics. This formula, both accessible and political, led Naked Raygun to be considered one of the most influential punk bands of the 80s, embodying what would be called the "Chicago Sound." After Durango's departure for Big Black, John Haggerty joined the band and marked its sound with his incisive guitar work on four albums. Pierre Kezdy and Eric Spicer respectively took over bass and drums, while in 1990, Haggerty left to form Pegboy and Bill Stephens participated in the last studio album, Raygun…Naked Raygun, concluding a legendary career in American punk history.
