{"product_id":"nahawa-doumbia_kanawa_2020_mdl","title":"Kanawa","description":"Nahawa Doumbia’s new album, titled Kanawa, captures the current history of Mali. The singer, whose career spans over four decades, reflects on immigration from a Malian perspective. Across eight songs, recorded in Bamako with a band playing traditional and modern instruments, Nahawa blends her didadi rhythm-based style with contemporary Malian pop music. She is still accompanied by her long-time collaborator, producer and arranger N’gou Bagayoko. The album features two Malian string instruments, the ngoni and the slightly smaller kamalé ngoni, a variety of percussions, the karignan (metal scraper), acoustic and electric guitars, as well as programmed drum beats. Doussou Bagyoko, Doumbia’s daughter, sings on \"Adjorobena,\" a song about patience, tolerance, and peace. Nahawa reflects on what life has offered her, good and bad. She speaks of marriage and women leaving their homes to join another through the metaphor of the tree in the garden. Gunshots can be heard in \"Foliwilen,\" a song honoring the courage of hunters and soldiers, and a bird in \"Djougoh\" to evoke lazy people. In \"Ndiagneko,\" she advises people to act and ignore criticism. Over the past ten years, Mali has gone through a difficult period, marked by regional conflicts and terrorist incidents. Doumbia grounds her new album in local, tragic concerns with global implications. Through this album, Nahawa Doumbia calls on the UN and African leaders to coordinate their efforts to create employment for the continent’s youth to prevent their exodus to other continents in often tragic crossings. Leaving is not the only solution. Her message is that young people need help.","brand":"Nahawa Doumbia","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55311930753368,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0843563131954.jpg?v=1760406447","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/nahawa-doumbia_kanawa_2020_mdl","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
