A celebration of the 75th anniversary of the composer This 7th album signed ECM entirely devoted to his music, brings together songs, refrains, psalms, and prayers composed between 2006 and 2008 Since 2001, ECM has promoted the art of Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov by recording his contemporary music works, all of which, whether choral, orchestral, or for chamber music, have a disarming beauty and a strong emotional power. Reflecting the composer's late interest in works for a cappella voices. Recorded with the magnificent Ukraine's Kiev Chamber Choir under the direction of Mykola Hobdych, its founder, the music is completely resonant with the sublime acoustics of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery, the recording location.
