Dear Sunny... - Vinyle Jaune Translucide

Description

A TRIBUTE TO SUNNY OZUNA BY THE ARTISTS OF BIG CROWN LABEL.Dear Sunny... a compilation of covers by Big Crown Records artists in tribute to Sunny & The Sunliners. From the first listen of "Should I Take You Home," the New York label became fans, seeking out every recording by the group. This immediate fondness quickly turned into a desire to re-release part of their catalog, which came to fruition after three years and numerous trips to visit Sunny and his son David in San Antonio, Texas. In 2017, the label released the compilation Mr Brown Eyed Soul, which introduced Sunny's incredible music to a whole new audience. Today, the label brings together a dream cast. The Shacks cover the hit "Smile Now, Cry Later," while Holy Hive performs "If I Could See You Now," drawing inspiration from the uptempo energy of the original track. Paul & The Tall Trees bring a crooner vibe to "Rain Makes Me Blue," and Brainstory has transformed "Runaway" into a haunting ballad reminiscent of early Lee Hazelwood productions. Bobby Oroza teamed up with Cold Diamond & Mink and produced a smashing version of "Should I Take You Home," while Liam Bailey delivers a scorching cover of "Give Me Time." Some tracks are covers... of covers. Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band tackles Sunny's funk holy grail with their cover of War's "Get Down," while 79.5 performs Sunny's version of "My Dream" and transforms the mood from a love song to a song dedicated to broken hearts. Monsieur Lee Fields covers "The Who's Hurting Is You," while the label's newcomers, Lizette & Quevin, perform the song that launched his career, his cover of Little Willie John's "Talk To Me." While awaiting the label's dream of recording a new album with this artist, Dear Sunny... is the most beautiful declaration of love offered to this living legend of San Antonio, Mr. Brown Eyed Soul, aka Sunny Ozuna.
