To accompany the event documentary by Bertrand Tavernier soon to be adapted into a television series, the collection Listen to Cinema! offers an exceptional double album. Filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier shares with enthusiasm and delight his passion for forty years of cinema, from Renoir to Gabin, from Prévert to Godard. A long journey, intimate and universal, during which Tavernier talks a lot about music and celebrates composers for the screen, from all generations, from Joseph Kosma to Georges Delerue. The first CD is dedicated to the original score by Bruno Coulais, conducted by Laurent Petitgirard. The second CD serves as a sentimental stroll through the musical memory of cinema, between symphonic works, jazz, and songs, with lyrics often written by the filmmakers themselves. A program balanced between objective standards (French Cancan, Touchez pas au grisbi, Les Portes de la nuit, Ascenseur pour l'échafaud) and rarities (Regain, Le Salaire de la peur, Madame de, En cas de malheur). Along the way, the program provokes baroque encounters: Honegger and Eddie Constantine, Miles Davis and Mouloudji, Arletty and Antoine Duhamel. In two words, this Journey is both a tribute and a celebration, better yet, an anthem to the composers of French cinema.
