Although at the time, the use of such records was mainly a cost-cutting maneuver for productions that could not afford to hire their own composers, the industry quickly developed: these catalogs became major financial successes, and most of the tracks were extraordinary because, in reality, behind this music created on demand anonymously or under a pseudonym were some of the greatest musical minds of the late 20th century, expert musicians and innovative composers who were able to take advantage of the paradoxical freedoms offered by companies. Unusual Sounds immerses us in a musical universe previously accessible only to producers and record collectors. Genres have been mixed, conventions have been removed, and hybrid music of astonishing complexity has been produced. Elements of rock, jazz, soul, and even avant-garde composition of the twentieth century have been used and turned in every direction. A long-time record collector, his Library Music collection is considered by many to be one of the best in the world.
