Treme (bof)

Description

Treme is a fictional series written for American television by David Simon and Eric Overmyer; the series takes its title from the Tremé neighborhood in New Orleans where its story begins about three months after Hurricane Katrina. It is at this time that the residents of New Orleans - musicians, chefs, Mardi Gras Indians, local population - attempt to rebuild their lives and their homes (and their unique culture) following the tragic events that occurred in 2005. On April 11, 2010, the pilot film of the series is broadcast on HBO; this 80-minute telefilm is the first of the 10 episodes that will make up the first season of Treme. Only two days later, HBO announces that the series Treme will be renewed for a second season. Critics' response: The reception from television specialists is very positive: For Allesandra Stanley of the New York Times, the series is "a sign of the unquenchable joy of living" in New Orleans. As for Heather Havrilesky of Salon.com, she observes, "Treme is the perfect illustration of the kind of story we all crave on television, but which is too rarely found there."
