Soul Jazz Records presents this amazing new collection, The World of Keith Haring, bringing together the music that influenced the artist Keith Haring. The art of Keith Haring is today one of the most recognizable of the visual artists of his generation, defining 1980s New York during an intense period when downtown artists and musicians collaborated like never before. Haring's musical inspiration comes from the funk/dance/punk sounds of downtown clubs like The Mudd Club, the underground disco at Larry Levan's Paradise Garage, as well as the early days of hip-hop and electro. The album's release coincides with the opening of the first major exhibition in the UK of Keith Haring's work, which will take place at Tate Liverpool for a period of six months. The music featured here includes the work of a number of Haring's close friends, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yoko Ono, Larry Levan, John Sex, and George Condo (The Girls), as well as a good dose of rare disco, early electro, and New York funk/dance/punk tracks. This album is available as a double CD with a 48-page booklet, and triple vinyl (+ download code). Both formats of the album feature stunning photographs, detailed notes, and interviews.
