Description
In two-and-a-half hours of Jamaican proto-ska, inspired by rhythm and blues, jazz, rastafari, and gospel, Coxsone's Music, the new release from Soul Jazz Records, allows us to (re)discover the work of the famous Jamaican producer. It features the early recordings of producer CLEMENT DODD, before he created Studio One Records. The project of CLEMENT SIR COXSONE DODD, The Downbeat Soundsystem, achieved resounding success on all the dancefloors of Kingston in the early 1960s. These recordings clearly reflect the American rhythm and blues and Jamaican jump jazz influences of the producer. From Don Drummond to Clancy Eccles, through Roland Alphonso, Derrick Harriott, Owen Gray, Count Ossie, Monty Alexander, The Blues Busters, Ernest Ranglin, and Rico Rodriguez, the producer managed throughout his career to discover many talents at their beginnings. Available in 3 CDs and two 2 LPs (with free download codes).
