The fans' obsession with the Beatles is endless, and their early heroes and influences have been scrutinized under a magnifying glass forever. As a result, compilations of the "Who did it first?" type have multiplied over the years, even if many are content to recycle the same fifty or sixty tracks. We wanted to broaden our field of exploration and include songs that other compilations may have overlooked. Among the undoubtedly familiar and expected names, we find Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Fats Domino, Gene Vincent, Ray Charles, Bill Haley & The Comets, Buddy Holly, etc. Slightly lesser-known artists include Little Willie John, Bill Justis, The Jodimars, Emile Ford, The Drifters, The Johnny Burnette Trio, The Coasters, Billy Lee Riley, etc. This box set complements a previous release on Jasmine, "Without The Beatles" (JASCD787).
