A hurricane of high-energy, driving tracks rages across Road Fever, a compilation of instrumentally produced riddims, road-tested and originating from Saint Lucia, Dominica, and Guadeloupe, which shines a light on the producers shaping the future of Caribbean music in 2025. Road Fever brings together instrumental riddims from Dennery Segment and Bouyon, originally designed for vocalists, presented here for the first time as standalone tracks. Stripping carnival riddims down to their essentials, the producers harness minimalist rhythms at over 150 bpm, FL percussion packs, DJ/vox samples, and synth riffs, bridging trap, drill, dancehall, accelerated Haitian konpa, and Angolan kuduro. At the crossroads of TikTok culture, and best heard through walls of speakers carried by stage-sized carnival trucks or via car Bluetooth speakers, the "Dennery Segment" sound from Saint Lucia (as described by iconic producer G6 in an interview) "awakens your inner self; a sound you can't hear and not move to."
