L’AUVERGNAT CHANTE BRASSENS A LA COOPERATIVE DE MAI (vinyl)

Description

THE TRIBUTE ALBUM FOR GEORGES BRASSENS' CENTENARY. WITH ALBIN DE LA SIMONE, MUSTANG, RROBIN, LES MAMANS DU CONGO, THE BELFOUR, SOURDURE, THE DOUG, COMME JOHN... ARTISTIC DIRECTION & MIXING BY OLIVIER LUDE (MATTHIEU CHEDID, VANESSA PARADIS, YODELICE, INDOCHINE...)Recorded live at La Coopérative de Mai, Clermont-Ferrand's contemporary music venue, which has been closed to the public and artists for an entire year, this album was born from a tiny idea, a bit rock'n'roll nonetheless: to dare a very free and often unexpected reinterpretation of some of Brassens' great songs - whose centenary we are celebrating this year - in the company of the young Auvergne music scene, starved of concerts for months. This century was just coming of age, barely twenty, when Georges Brassens was born on October 22, 1921. One hundred years later, from June to October, the city of Sète will be at the heart of the Georges Brassens Centenary, an exceptional international event to celebrate the work of the singer, poet, writer, libertarian, unique ambassador of French cultural heritage, and the most translated French author worldwide.Amidst this grand celebration, La Coopérative de Mai, Clermont-Ferrand's contemporary music venue, humbly joins the festivities by releasing L'Auvergnat chante Brassens, a collector's vinyl recorded by Olivier Lude (Matthieu Chedid, Vanessa Paradis, Yodelice, Indochine...) live with the cream of local artists, a young, free, and audacious reinterpretation of some of Brassens' great songs, filmed by Biscuit Production. And if all goes well, a joyful bus, sails unfurled, will depart for Sète in July to bring all these wonderful people to the stage, for one (or more) concerts in the colors of Auvergne and Clermont-Ferrand, which is in the running for the title of European Capital of Culture.A unique project for the young music scene. L'Auvergnat chante Brassens at La Coopérative de Mai is part of the major projects of the Clermont-Ferrand SMAC to bring together and unite the emerging scene around an original creation. A unique event, an exceptional lineup. Under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, supported by major national media, the vast program of celebrations and festivities that will bring Sète to life all summer, and until the grand evening of October 29, forty years after the poet's death, will bring together dozens of artists from all walks of life – singers, visual artists, writers, filmmakers – at the Théâtre de la Mer, on a boat, and throughout the city.A colorful and outspoken gathering to celebrate an intact modernity, a salutary insolence, an essential freedom, a band just as Brassens would have undoubtedly loved. Friends first.
