Neglecting no region of the world, Aquarium Drunkard (AD) offers an eclectic range of interviews, mixtapes, reviews, and all kinds of content, covering much – if not all – of the musical spectrum: vintage garage as much as psychedelic music, folk, country, soul, funk, R&B, and more. The scope is wide, but the idea is simple: Only the good shit. In 2011, Gage launched the Lagniappe Sessions, a series of recording sessions on the website, as well as a weekly show on SiriusXMU radio. Lagniappe Sessions Volume 1 is the result of a collaboration between Light In The Attic Records and Aquarium Drunkard Recordings. It compiles excerpts from the first five years of the Lagniappe Sessions, bringing together for the first time on vinyl a diverse program of obscure finds and more well-known tracks, in new and unexpected forms. The Swedish psychedelic band Dungen covers electronic pioneer Aphex Twin; of Montreal tackles the folk classic 'All My Sorrows'; troubadour Kevin Morby transforms a Germs track into a mystical moment. Some of the most famous tracks on Volume 1 are also the most daring in terms of reinterpretation – White Fence re-imagines the Gin Blossoms in Paisley Underground style while guitarist William Tyler draws connections between Sandy Bull's ragga and Blue Oyster Cult's progressive rock.
