Nobody knew what to make of the Jesus People. This informal youth movement, born in California in the late 1960s, brought together hippies, outcasts, potheads, and eccentrics who had converted to Christianity. But that didn't mean they were going to settle down. The Jesus People wore long hair and kept their quirky slang, extolling the joys of the "Jesus trip" and asking, "You've tried everything? Why not try Jesus?" Everywhere they went, from traditional churches on the West Coast to rural communities where back-to-the-landers founded communes, the Jesus People sowed confusion. The second volume in Org Music and Aquarium Drunkard's series, Jesus People Music, Volume 2: The Reckoning, bears witness to this strange era. Composed of eight tracks by eight different artists, this album is a collection of soaring tracks, ranging from psychedelic folk to psychedelic blues.
