Description

This is the highly anticipated repress of the first volume of the HOT SAUCE L.P. series, which has been out of stock for a long time. The first version was released in October 2020. HOT SAUCE VOLUME 1 features Rocksteady, Boss Reggae, Early Dub & Early Reggae from outstanding original Jamaican tracks, including rare songs, overlooked gems, and forgotten treasures. The record labels featured on the first volume are Attack, Amalgamated, Black Swan, Blue Cat, Downtown, Doctor Bird, Duke, Grape, High Note, Randy's and Trojan. The tracks here were selected based on their musical interest first, their rarity, and their complementarity. These tracks are all outstanding tracks, "killer tracks," there is no "filler" at all. Special attention was paid to how the songs are sequenced (or "mixed") so that the album builds beautifully and progressively, generally starting with Rocksteady songs on side A and songs from the 1970s on side B. Since the "Tighten Up" series from the early 1970s, no compilation has really explored these labels in depth on vinyl.
