Generation Django

Description

Django is not just a genius Gypsy jazz guitarist, hard to classify. He is simply a true artist. He created a musical language of his own, adopted by generations of musicians. He is the inventor of a unique musical expression in its genre. In this cultural landscape of ours, alongside the long list of Ravel, Debussy, Fauré and Poulenc, we must not forget Django and his work. His music is not a minor art but rather a new universal musical school. This music is an integral part of our heritage. It was on a starry night of July 9, 2002, before a full arena, during the Jazz à Vienne festival in France that this music regained its momentum, guided by the zealous fingers of the masterful Biréli Lagrène, a true reincarnation of the master and in turn master of the place for one evening... suddenly a second life for this music was about to be born. This modest Generation Django offered by Dreyfus / Music celebrating the 100th anniversary of the maestro aims to shed light on all the variations and passions that Django's work has inspired for subsequent generations.
