To mark the centenary of the death of the German composer Engelbert Humperdinck, Deutsche Grammophon presents an anthology of his work in a double album bringing together his most remarkable compositions and lesser-known masterpieces of chamber music, including his splendid Piano Quintet and the String Quartet in C major. This anniversary edition also offers a selection of his most beautiful lieder, his only arrangement for piano and strings of the Prelude to Wagner's Tristan und Isolde as well as a world premiere recording of the piano piece Erinnerung. These rarities come accompanied by excerpts from his greatest successes, including Hänsel und Gretel in the version by Georg Solti and Königskinder with Jonas Kaufmann.
