Cold wave 1

Description

"Cold Wave" is the 1st volume of the new collection of current electronic artists who have all been shaped by the cold wave of the late 70s and early 80s. Most of the featured artists are based in Europe: Krikor, Dissemblance, and VQOA from France, DeAmbassade from the Netherlands, Moisture from Sweden, Kreidler from Germany, Céline Gillain and Carcass Identity from Belgium. One exception: FIT Siegel from Detroit, who connects the electronic paths of Europe to the Motor City. They have created new electronic musical landscapes while pursuing a D-I-Y aesthetic, releasing tracks on cassette and making pioneering use of lo-fi technology, primitive drum machines, and "At home" recording techniques. Many continue to produce, run labels, publish fanzines, or are part of larger musical collectives. Their main influences are No Wave and Post-Punk with artists like Suicide, Patrick Cowley, The Normal, Martin Hannett, Laurie Anderson, Public Image.
