It was neither the first nor the last time. A month after its release in July 1991, the album entered the charts and laid a cornerstone for the future. The album was started at Music Source Studio, a large space equipped with a 24-track mixing console — downright futuristic compared to the 8-track setup that had birthed the catalytic first single \"Touch Me I’m Sick\" in 1988. The Music Source session quickly turned into a false start as it sounded, according to guitarist Steve Turner, a bit too clean and polished. The lesson was learned, the band became primitive and began working on the 8-track setup of Conrad Uno at Egg Studio. Named after the egg cartons glued to the walls in an optimistic attempt at soundproofing, Egg boasted a vintage 8-track Spectra Sonics recording console from the 60s, originally built for Stax in Memphis. Thus, in the spring of 1991, Mudhoney recorded Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge. The album is a whirlwind of the band's influences at the time: the fierce 60s garage rock of their predecessors, The Sonics and The Lollipop Shoppe, the gritty post-hardcore of Drunks With Guns, the dense guitar atmospheres of Neil Young, the lysergic tracks of Spacemen 3 and Hawkwind, the gloomy existentialism of Zounds, and the satirical ferocity of 80s hardcore punk. The unique chemistry of the quartet ensured that these affectionate tributes never slipped into pastiche. Ultimately, Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge embodied the best of Mudhoney: a band reconnecting with its instincts and reinventing itself in the process. This 30th-anniversary edition, remastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service, reflects the creative surge that propelled them during this period. The studio sessions produced a set of compositions that would later appear on B-sides, compilations, and splits. This edition includes all these tracks, as well as a multitude of unreleased songs, including the five tracks from the Music Source session.","brand":"Mudhoney","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58363570848088,"sku":null,"price":20210701.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0098787141429.jpg?v=1788301951","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/mudhoney_every-good-boy-deserves-fudge-30eme-anniversaire-edition-deluxe_2021","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
