Created in 2004, the band Moussu T e lei Jovents formed around Moussu T (Tatou) with the collaboration of two renowned musicians: Blu, esteemed guitarist of the band Massilia Sound System, and Jam Da Silva, Brazilian percussionist. Together, they aim to foster a dialogue between tradition and modernity, local and universal. This desire for alterity and confrontation is reflected in the composition of Moussu T e lei Jovents, where it is symptomatic that the founder of Massilia Sound System works alongside the youngest and newest member, and where the songs of Marseille and La Ciotat are supported by the drums of Northeastern Brazil. For Moussu T e lei Jovents, alterity and confrontation remain the necessary path to embrace reality, so that in the face of the planet's commercial globalization, a free and fraternal dialogue among peoples can emerge in response.
After 6 albums of their own compositions and 2 albums dedicated to the repertoire of Marseillaise operetta songs, Moussu T e lei Jovents has become an essential group in the French musical landscape and an undisputed figure in Occitan song. Beyond inspiration, Moussu T e lei Jovents has managed to create its own style, between song and Mediterranean blues. Now recognized worldwide, Moussu T e lei Jovents represents Marseillaise music.
"À La Ciotat," the [Best of], is thus a concentrated selection of the band's most emblematic songs: from protest songs and blues, to light-hearted or more caustic tunes, Moussu T e lei Jovents here showcases all their expertise in a pleasantly catchy medley, in the Marseillaise style.
