Before PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN, there was MOTHER LOVE BONE! Hailing from Seattle, the name Mother Love Bone is now legendary among all rock fans. After the demise of one of Seattle's key rock bands - Green River, which was the precursor to the grunge scene that would soon explode in Seattle, members Stone Gossard, Bruce Fairweather, and Jeff Ament recruited Gary Gilmour and Andy Wood to complete the final lineup of Mother Love Bone. With their first release, the six-track EP Shine, which generated huge interest, the band's debut album "Apple" quickly followed. Featuring a 1970s rock sound on tracks like "Stardog Champion" and "Holly Roller," theatrical guitars on "Come Bite the Apple," and a softer groove on "Man of Golden Words," "Apple" promised a bright future for the band! However, as Apple was set to be released in March 1990, Wood's tragic death from a heroin overdose led to the band's dissolution. Wood's friend, Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, began working on a tribute project, Temple of the Dog, with members of Mother Love Bone and the then-unknown Eddie Vedder, marking the beginning of Pearl Jam! Containing the original album tracks and original artwork, as well as a rare bonus track, digitally remastered, this album is a must-have for rock collectors and grunge fans.
