Matt Filippini is an Italian rock guitarist, songwriter, and producer. After working with a few local bands, he began to take it seriously when in 2001 he started playing some concerts in Italy during a masterclass tour with the legendary drummer Ian Paice (founder of Deep Purple and a current member since 1968, also having worked with Paul McCartney, Gary Moore, and Whitesnake). A year later, in 2003, after writing a bunch of rock songs and recording a demo in his home studio, Matt gave a CD with the tracks to Mr. Paice, who liked the material and agreed to record the drum tracks for the songs. Thus, after Ian Paice recorded three of the tracks, Matt asked Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, ...) to record the vocals for two of the songs. These became "Rose In Hell" and "Where Do You Hide The Blues You've Got," two of the most beloved songs from Matt's debut studio album, MOONSTONE PROJECT Time To Take A Stand, released in April 2006 on Majestic Rock Records. The album features other rock and roll legends like Carmine Appice, Steve Walsh from Kansas, Eric Bloom from Blue Oyster Cult, Graham Bonnet from Rainbow, and many more! The album, produced and written by Filippini himself, was acclaimed by the music press with excellent reviews and adored by thousands of classic rock fans around the world. In 2010, Matt toured Spain and Italy with Carmine Appice, and in September 2010, he played at a festival in Sardinia with Roger Glover (Deep Purple), Bobby Kimball and Steve Lukather from Toto, and Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath and Ronnie Dio). In 2011, in the following years, he played with Deep Purple, Doogie White (Rainbow and Malmsteen), and Neil Murray (Whitesnake and Brian May Band), as well as several concerts with Hughes and Paice. He has certainly been active in recent years! The title track of the Moonstone Project "New Life" has been fully remixed and remastered by Fredrik Folkare, featuring rock legends Glenn Hughes, Graham Bonnet, Eric Bloom, James Christian, Andrew Freeman, Ian Paice, Ken Hensley, Carmine Appice, etc.
