'Little Ghost' marks the return of the Los Angeles-based trio Moonchild with their most meticulously crafted and comprehensive album to date. Led by the single "Too Much to Ask," the group sees multi-instrumentalists Amber Navran, Max Bryk, and Andris Mattson channel endless sonic energy as they explore some of the most personal aspects of what it means to love and believe in who you truly are. With a unique blend of alternative R&B, soul jazz, and new-school sounds that has carved out a special niche in today's music scene, 'Moonchild' continues to intertwine lyrical concepts with sparkling melodies, harmonies, and irresistible interludes. Taking its name from the most emotional of celestial bodies, 'Little Ghost' builds upon the highly praised 'Voyager' [2017], 'Please Rewind' [2015], and 'Be Free' (2012). Since the release of their critically acclaimed album "Voyager," 'Moonchild' has toured worldwide, with headline tours in North America, Asia, and Europe, as well as opening slots for 'The Internet' and 'Kamasi Washington.' While traveling, the group wasted no time working on 'Little Ghost' as they began to gather beats and production ideas on the road; "Eventually, we were able to spend time solely on the album, going to Lake Arrowhead for writing retreats and getting together at each other's homes in LA," says Bryk. Channeling this spirit of collaboration, the record is a continuation of Moonchild's story. "Moonchild has been a three-way project between us. We work to achieve the sound we all have in our heads, but cannot articulate in words," Bryk summarizes. This taste for experimentation and teamwork is found throughout the album, particularly through the instrumentation bringing the band members together to form harmonies and brass solos; as demonstrated on the funk-fueled track "Come Over," which features three consecutive Moonchild horn solos with Bryk on clarinet, Mattson on flugelhorn, and Amber on flute, showcasing their supernatural musical talent and mutual respect.
