Formed in San Francisco in 2009 by WOODEN SHIJPS guitarist RIPLEY JOHNSON and his partner SANAE YAMADA, the very young duo has already released two futuristic space-rock EPs, both critically acclaimed ("Killing Time" and "Escape"). Today, they naturally release their first album, "Mazes," recorded in San Francisco and mixed in Berlin. MOON DUO recorded this album to meet a challenge: that of creativity. They thus created obstacles for themselves, for example, by forbidding the use of drums, thereby forcing themselves to take new musical paths. Recorded at home, in a desired sense of urgency, "Mazes" bears the marks of the complicity that unites RIPLEY and SANAE, partners in life. "Mazes," like a travel diary, transports us amidst immense American landscapes. We find traces of NEU!, BLUE CHEER, or HAWKWIND: intoxicating.
