Stories of faces and masks. That's how one might describe the music of Mokado, a new electro project founded in Paris in January 2018 by percussionist Sylvain Bontoux.
Inspired by his great-grandfather's travel journals, Mokado brings to life the characters that populate their pages, imagining their adventures and emotions. Somewhere between the techno of Daniel Avery and the minimalist music of Max Richter, Mokado thus conjures these ghosts of the past into an enchanting nocturnal ballet, where acoustic marimba and electronic keyboards respond to each other in unison.
