Bach (Re)inventions
Description
In 1723, nearly three centuries ago, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) completed his Two-Part Inventions BWV 772-786. This pedagogical work, conceived for his son Wilhelm Friedemann, explores contrapuntal writing and various dance movements by employing a whole series of compositional principles. Then as now, a musician's training involves mastering interpretive technique and the idiomatic characteristics of the instrument. This extraordinary corpus of fifteen pieces is reinvented in the present recording by pianist Moisés P. Sánchez, based on Bach's own principles of improvising on well-known works to bring them into a contemporary language without stripping them of their essence. This project, commissioned by the Juan March Foundation, recreates the original spirit of Bach's inventions identically: a creative idea that, through reinterpretation, stimulates musical imagination and captivates the listener with new sonorities.Buy Bach (Re)inventions at the best price
