Always In Motion - Vinyle Transparent

Description

There's a fundamental truth that Los Angeles musician and composer Lexi Vega embraces on Always In Motion, the debut album by Mini Trees: time continues to move forward, for better or for worse. The consequences of this perpetual motion inspired this new collection of indie-pop songs that evoke our collective anxiety about the improbability of life. Lexi began writing and recording her own music under the name Mini Trees in 2018. It was a natural evolution for Lexi, who grew up in Southern California surrounded by music - her mother sang in a Japanese fusion pop band and her father was often on the road as James Taylor's drummer. She grew up taking guitar and drum lessons, knowing that music would be her path. After years of playing drums in other bands, she recorded her first solo track with producer Jon Joseph and was immediately hooked by the feeling of creating something that spoke directly to her as an artist. Mini Trees' first EP, Steady Me, was released in 2019, followed by the Slip Away EP the following year. Mini Trees began playing on the West Coast in early 2020, then the momentum stopped for Lexi and the rest of the world. Suddenly, she was home, with endless time to reflect, and she began to re-evaluate her own identity and beliefs during this break. She had initially planned to write and record a third EP, but she quickly realized that she had the time and inspiration to create an album. In the summer of 2020, she went into the studio with Jon for several recording sessions to create what would become her debut album. It is about the past as much as the present moment, and Lexi's ability to introspect and ask questions is contagious to the listener. Mini Trees posits that there is no easy answer to these questions, but perhaps that's not so bad. Time moves forward - always in motion.
