Mika Bomb was formed in 1997 after singer Mika left her boring office job in Japan to escape to London to start a band and dedicate herself to a rock'n'roll life. A few weeks after arriving in England, Mika met a 16-year-old punk girl named Agi who had recently left her hometown of Beijing for similar reasons as Mika. Needless to say, Mika and Agi quickly got to work writing their own trashy pop punk songs. With Ergi, Mika Bass, and Tomoko completing the band, they began performing regularly and built a formidable reputation thanks to their always exuberant shows. Not only did they win over audiences across the country, but NME called them the "new Ramones," Melody Maker described them as "awesome," and Steve Lamacq from Radio One stated they were "the best band ever to come out of Japan." They initially released their fantastic debut album of 15 tracks, The Fake Fake Sound of Mikabomb, on July 2, 2001. Long out of print on vinyl, we are now reissuing it as Mikabomb, reformed, is back in action and touring the country.
