In recent years, Midge Ure has focused on live performances, leaving little time to fully immerse himself in studio music creation. That is why "A Man of Two Worlds" is his first album of original compositions in twelve years. The wait was worth it: this album is an impressive collection of exceptional tracks, divided into two distinct parts. The first, "World One: Music," consists of eight instrumental pieces, while the second, "World Two: Songs," features eight songs. This concept was partly inspired by the time Midge spent during lockdown listening to instrumental music while hosting the show "THE SPACE" on Scala Radio. Hearing music rarely played on mainstream airwaves, he set out to create wordless pieces where the melodies had to speak for themselves. The eight songs that form the second part of the album came to Midge as the world reopened. A world more divided, in many ways harsher and less empathetic. Sharing the same atmosphere as the preceding instrumental tracks, these songs are incredibly stripped-down and meditative, and while they are subtle, some address the fragility of the human condition, many reflect Midge's concerns about the discord plaguing the world today.
