Mutant is proud to present "Exotic Themes for the Silver Screen" - Volume 2, the latest opus from Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino. This series features exclusive rearrangements of his iconic film scores, reimagined in a retro 1950s lounge style. This second volume, covering the period from 2012 to 2022, revisits cult themes from his career, notably from Marvel Studios (Spider-Man, Doctor Strange), Disney - Pixar (Inside Out, Coco), as well as other films such as The Batman, Rogue One, Planet of the Apes, and Jurassic World. Giacchino has transformed these original soundtracks into soft and soothing versions, perfect for a summer ambiance. According to the composer, this project was an opportunity to "reclaim the material and be creative in a new way," focusing on the catchy melodies of his award-winning themes. The album is available on limited edition colored vinyl, with liner notes by Charles Phoenix and artwork by Luke Insect. "We are thrilled to continue exploring Michael's rich career with this incredible collection of some of his most beloved themes, revisited for warm summer evenings, a cocktail (or mocktail) in hand," says Spencer Hickman, co-founder of Mutant. "Michael is a rare composer, at ease with superheroes, horror, action, or intimate dramas. He always manages to create incredibly beautiful melodies, sublimated by these stripped-down downtempo versions of his award-winning themes." With liner notes by Charles Phoenix and artwork by Luke Insect. "So much of it relied on the orchestral sound, so it was about stripping it down. The real challenge was finding the fun little hooks and elements to add along the way. There were no rules; I was open to anything. It was a way for me to reclaim the material and express my creativity in a new way." Other highlights include "The Batman Suite" from Matt Reeves' 2022 blockbuster The Batman, "Jyn Erso's Theme" from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as well as themes from War for the Planet of the Apes, Jurassic World, and two selections from his first film, Werewolf By Night. 'Exotic Themes For The Silver Screen Volume 1' features a selection of reinterpreted works from Michael Giacchino's career. Among the most notable are "Primordial Forest" from the video game The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), "Life and Death" from Lost, the theme from Ratatouille, "Roar!" from Cloverfield, "Enterprising Young Men" from Star Trek (2009), "A Man, A Plan, A Code, Dubai" from Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and a Super 8 suite. Packaging design: Luke Insect and liner notes: Charles Phoenix.
