It's 2016, and the Melvins are releasing a new album with a somewhat surprising lineup. For "Basses Loaded," guitarist King Buzzo and drummer Dale Crover have invited no less than six bassists. While some might wonder what possessed the duo, King Buzzo defends this original formation and claims that each bassist brings their own touch to the album. Let's talk a little about these six new members... First up is Jared Warren, a member of the band Big Business and an old friend of the Melvins, already accustomed to playing with them (bassist on the albums "A Senile Animal" and "Nude With Boots"). Jeff Pinkus, who accompanied the Melvins on their last two tours and on the album "Hold it in," will also be there. Another Melvins regular, Trevor Dunn (bassist for Mr. Bungle), also joins the lineup. New members of the band for "Basses Loaded" include Steve McDonald from the glam punks Redd Kross and, to top it all off, Krist Novoselic from Nirvana. All of them are accompanied by Dale Crover, who had already swapped his drums for a bass on "Tres Cabrones," the Melvins' 2013 album.
