Domino Records is pleased to announce the release of a special edition to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Melody’s Echo Chamber, the self-titled debut album by French musician Melody Prochet. Recorded and co-produced with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala in Perth, Australia, and finalized in the south of France, the album became a cornerstone of the new psychedelic wave upon its release in 2012. The reissue will be released simultaneously with Unfold, seven rare and previously unreleased tracks: what could have been the follow-up to Melody’s Echo Chamber will be available for the first time. Melody’s Echo Chamber is a hypnotic adventure that sometimes leaves the senses semi-conscious, full of summery and shimmering songs that still sound as dreamy and alive as they did ten years ago. At the time, Pitchfork described it as: "... enchanting pop, tinged with psychedelia, with just the right amount of thematic darkness," while NME described the album as "subtly disorienting" and noted that Prochet had created a work "as dark as it is light." Prochet and Parker began working on what was supposed to be the second album in 2013, in Perth, once again. "The album was fifty percent finished, and then our relationship just didn't hold up," says Prochet. "Then I tried to work on it alone for a few years, until I realized I was really hurting myself by doing that." In a moment of frustration, Melody deleted some of the music from those sessions, which is now gone forever, but all is not lost. Seven tracks from that period, gathered in Unfold, are available for the first time on vinyl with this tenth anniversary edition.
