A long tour followed the release of her first album for a major label - My One and Only Thrill - but Melody Gardot was already restless, ready for new adventures. She left alone, continuing her travels around the world in search of new encounters, new cultures. Inspired by the deserts of Morocco and the streets of Lisbon, by the tango bars of Buenos Aires or the beaches in Brazil, her new album The Absence captures the essence of each exotic place while preserving the quintessence of Melody Gardot. Melody brings back to the United States all these experiences, knowledge, and music; upon her return, she meets guitarist/producer/songwriter Heitor Pereira. He is a world-class guitarist (among his studio references are Sting, Seal, and Caetano Veloso), proving to be the ideal partner. The duo works on songs like "Se Voce Me Ama" and "Amalia," which they co-write. Heitor plays guitar on the album and contributes his own voice on "Se Voce Me Ama." He also arranges all the vocal arrangements for the album. It took a year of traveling around the world for Melody Gardot to find inspiration to create The Absence, a collection filled with musical colors that wrap around the unique and expressive style that characterizes Melody Gardot. She is about to embark on a world tour to mark the release of her third album.
