Melissa Aldana, one of the best jazz saxophonists today, presents her new album inspired by the life and work of Frida Kahlo. For her first album leading her quintet, the saxophonist Melissa Aldana, awarded the prestigious Thelonious Monk and close to singer Cecile McLorin Salvant, drew her inspiration from the life and work of Frida Kahlo. On Visions, the Chilean based in New York alternates brilliantly between high-intensity attacks and more contemplative passages. She creates very rich sonic landscapes that resonate with great humanity, palpable throughout the album.
