Haunted for years by the pianos and melodies of Antony and the Johnsons, Mélanie calls on Gael Rakotondrabe, pianist and arranger for Antony's latest tours and former companion of Coco Rosie, to arrange and produce her third album: Parachute, an album designed to defy gravity. After two albums (Mynameen 2009, Bye Bye Manchester in 2013), Mélanie Pain, in collaboration with Gael Rakotondrabe, presents Parachute, a surprising and personal album in French that boldly blends grand piano and synthesizer, organic percussion, programming, and electro textures. Parachute is entirely centered around the piano; no guitar will be recorded, a choice that takes Mélanie far from her pop-folk influences and offers her a new hybrid and modern sound combining grand piano, classical harmonies with programming and electro textures. Gaël Rakotondrabe's subtle playing and production create an aquatic sound universe, a delicate cocoon where Mélanie's writing and singing assert themselves.
