Visions Fugitives

Description

Mekong Delta was the first German prog thrash band, still a year before Sieges Even released their debut album. With Mekong Delta, in 1988, they did not make it easy for unsuspecting metal fans, unless they were familiar with the complex material of Rush or early Yes and Genesis, were among the few initiates who knew Energetic Disassembly (1985) by Watchtower, or had been exposed by an older sibling to King Crimson or sophisticated classical music. The second album The Music Of Eric Zann was more widely recognized by fans as ingenious and high-class due to a more differentiated sound. The mysterious Mekong Delta (the lineup remained hidden at first) made a name for itself as one of the most innovative German metal bands, which still resonates today. This is shown by the current album Tales Of A Future Past (2020), which was celebrated for good reasons. For this fourth album, Doug Lee joined the band. He was previously (and is again today) the singer of the American band Siren, which had released its second album Financial Suicide on Aaarrg Records. And the boss of their label, Ralph Hubert, is not only the classic bassist and guitarist of Mekong Delta, but also the driving force of the band. With drummer Peter Haas (Krokus, Buddy Lackey, Calhoun Conquer) and guitarist Uwe Baltrusch, they reached a new peak and delivered one of their most ambitious works in 1994: Visions Fugitives. Even before, Mekong Delta had celebrated classical pieces in metal musical attire, but on Visions Fugitives, they make their listeners vibrate with a personal composition called Suite For Group And Orchestra, which now fills one side of the LP. The other four songs reflect the band in their usual style. In 1994, the label at the time, Bullet Proof (Intercord), did not do a recording, because the CD had already won the battle. Due to current demand, this masterpiece is now being released on LP for the first time!
