"Flute Boy" is a harbinger of MD Pallavi and Andi Otto's forthcoming debut album "Songs for Broken Ships." "Flute Boy" is a folktronica lullaby, a pretty waltz with traces of dub and acid. The B-side, "Look Again," features an almost neoclassical ballad with MD Pallavi's voice floating expansively over a wonderful framedrum groove. MD Pallavi and Andi Otto first crossed paths on a theater stage in India a decade ago. They instantly began collaborating, and in 2016, MD Pallavi's enchanting vocals on the downtempo raga "Bangalore Whispers" warmed hearts and ears. Their musical relationship blossomed with artist residencies in Bangalore and Hamburg, their respective hometowns, and a concert tour in Japan. The album showcases a pop-aesthetic vision interwoven by the two artists with contrasting musical backgrounds. It ranges from organically woven folktronica mixed with fragmented disco tracks, as well as acoustic ballads.
