{"product_id":"mccoy-tyner_forces-of-nature-live-at-slugs_2024_uni","title":"Forces of Nature: Live at Slugs'","description":"'Forces of Nature: Live at Slugs'', a previously unreleased live recording featuring jazz legends McCoy Tyner and Joe Henderson leading a stellar quartet with bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Jack DeJohnette at New York’s hallowed, lost jazz sanctuary, Slugs' Saloon, in 1966. The album was produced by Zev Feldman and Jack and Lydia DeJohnette.\n\nTyner and Henderson had forged a strong musical bond on Blue Note through the mid-’60s with Tyner appearing on Henderson’s 1963 debut album 'Page One', as well as his 1964 albums 'In 'N Out' and 'Inner Urge', while Henderson would appear on Tyner’s own Blue Note debut with 'The Real McCoy' in 1967. The Slugs set list featured two Henderson compositions that had originally been recorded on his Blue Note albums: a blazing, half-hour exploration of ‘In 'N Out’ and a joyful journey through ‘Isotope’ which is available to stream or download today.\n\nForces of Nature features:\n\n• an elaborate booklet with rare photos by Francis Wolff, Raymond Ross, and Robert Polillo,\n\n• liner notes by esteemed author and critic Nate Chinen, \n\n• interviews and statements with Jason Moran, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, Christian McBride, Nasheet Waits, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Originally recorded by legendary recording engineer Orville O'Brien – who recorded classic 1960s jazz albums such as Freddie Hubbard’s ‘The Night of the Cookers’, Charles Tolliver’s ‘Music Inc.’ and Alice Coltrane’s ‘Journey to Satchidananda’ \n\n• the tape has been in DeJohnette's personal archives for nearly 60 years.","brand":"McCoy Tyner","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55497620291928,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0602465975154.jpg?v=1760392872","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/mccoy-tyner_forces-of-nature-live-at-slugs_2024_uni","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
