Asterix evokes my childhood, and probably yours too. We know René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo’s Gaulish village by heart: the brawls with stale fish, the Romans flying through the air under a rain of slaps, and the final banquet where laughter accompanies roast boars. Yet, with this series, Alain and Fabrice succeed in giving new scope to the adventures of the indomitable Gauls, while remaining faithful to the original work. Participating in Asterix and the Big Fight was a magnificent gift: the opportunity to compose music that particularly touches me, encouraged by kind and enthusiastic people. This support was the magic potion that allowed me to give my best; and seeing the whole team marvel at the masterful performance of the London Symphony Orchestra during the recording was the greatest reward.
