The third chapter of an unprecedented musical quest, which is expected to comprise no less than twelve in total, Coin Coin Chapter Three: river run thee shows no signs of creative exhaustion or redundancy. Quite the opposite: opting this time for the radicalism of chosen solitude, Matana Roberts crafts a sound world as visceral as it is dreamlike, rooted upstream in experience and the contingencies of the field (a journey undertaken in South America that allowed the musician to collect scattered sound documents), before being, in a second stage, a work of reflection, reimagined and replayed in the studio with the great wizard of the Constellation label, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh. Traditional chants, spoken word, saxophone notes, radio textures, field recordings, drones, and overdubs are thus continuously intertwined in what resembles an incredible musical trek where the resonances of the world combine with inner stirrings.
