The new album by Martin Fröst is a baroque adventure that poses the question: What would Vivaldi have composed if the clarinet had been a more developed instrument in his time? This new recording by the Swedish clarinetist attempts to provide an element of response with the creation of three concertos for clarinet, composed from the most beautiful arias of Vivaldi's operas and oratorios. Interpreted on the chalumeau (the ancestor of the clarinet) and the modern clarinet, Martin Fröst and the Concerto Köln create a wonderful symbiosis between old and new. Two sinfonias and a new aria complete this virtuosic and innovative disc.
