Twelve years after her previous album, Marie Paule Belle returned to the studio to record 15 new tracks for piano and voice. This new opus 'Un soir entre mille' delivers autobiographical songs, both humorous and sentimental. The lyrics are by Marie-Paule Belle and Isabelle Mayereau. Her longtime authors, Françoise Mallet-Joris and Michel Grisolia, were also invited to this grand comeback, and their words, though written a few years earlier, remain as relevant as ever, such as 'Pays Natal' (a song covered by Souad Massi on her album Oumniya) or 'Se dire oui, se dire non' about the virtual world. The artist tells her story, unprecedentedly, through music about her history with Françoise Mallet-Joris in 'Beau temps à Saint-Germain', 'Un soir entre mille', about her family in 'Avec toi, je riais souvent', 'Il écoutait le coeur des gens' or 'Petit frère', and evokes her childhood in 'Au bois de buis'. Her great friend Serge Lama contributes a poignant text with 'L'ombre de son chien'. All the music is by Marie-Paule Belle. Her voice has grown deeper and smoother over the years, and her piano draws her melodies with finesse and elegance. She opens her treasure chest of memories and feelings, where time stops to let us savor this intimate atmosphere. This is undoubtedly her most personal album!
