L'heure bleue

Description

L'heure bleue is that moment between the end of the night and the dawn, where it can already be discerned, even before it rises: it thus opens a breach and allows a glimpse of what is to come. It is the moment of clairvoyance, of premonitions. Marianne Piketty and her ensemble Le Concert Idéal bring together on this record the works of visionary composers: the chants of the abbess Hildegarde of Bingen, known for her mystical visions, the Concerto Funèbre by Karl Hartmann which announces and denounces the horrors of the Third Reich. The original composition by Philippe Hersant and the rare Octet for strings by Shostakovich echo them and thus complete this program, between shadow and light. After Le Fil d'Ariane, Marianne Piketty and Le Concert Idéal continue their exploration of time and here make the past and present converse, uniting across the centuries these premonitory works.
